What is a roulette wheel ?

 WARNING:

The aim of this site is not to encourage you to play or to discourage you from playing. It was created to give you explanations and advice about gambling games. Fortune may smile on you and you can win a lot of money… But be careful, you can also lose a lot of money! You need to control yourself! You must know you limits particularly if you are conscious that one day you could become a compulsive gambler. This site will help you to better understand the roulette.

Real casinos and online casinos attract more and more people. Can we win or lose a lot of money playing roulette?

The roulette table is usually made of a solid wood structure, a gaming mat and a wheel.
You should know that the tables of the casinos are controlled by official institutions.
The wheel is perfectly balanced and spins with an impeccable regularity.
Despite of the existing prejudices and fantasies, the roulette dealer who launches the ball cannot influence the wheel rotation or the ball movement.
Indeed, the dealer spins the roulette wheel clockwise and launches the ball into the track in a counterclockwise direction. Consequently, he cannot act upon the future position of the ball.
As far as online casinos are concerned, things are completely different.
In most cases, the software used online is a “pseudo-random” number generator.
Some casinos, concerned about their fames and the quality of their programmes, use highly specialized software applications (e.g. Playtech or Gambling Federation).
Except if the online casino tampers with the software, a good software will always generate a real pseudo-random number.
Those casinos display the name of the supplier in order to prove that the software used is perfectly correct. Online casinos respectful of the law do exist.

For adults who live in countries where online gambling is authorised or tolerated, it is of the utmost importance to control the reputation of an online casino before playing.
Some specialized Internet sites draw a blacklist of unscrupulous casinos. You must be very careful while entering the world of the online casinos.

The roulette layout

The roulette layout

In the French roulette, there is only one 0 while the American roulette also includes an additional double-zero (00).Roulette layouts have two betting areas. The inside betting area contains the individual numbers on the layout. The outside betting area has boxes for the columns, rouge/noir and pair/impair and different groups of numbers. To bet on a noir or rouge number, place this bet in one of the two diamond-shaped areas filled in with a black or a red colour according to your choice. Dozens are lined up across the bottom of the layout: The space “12P” (première douzaine) is reserved for bets on the first dozen; “12M” (moyenne douzaine) refers to the “middle” or second dozen and “12D” (dernière douzaine) refers to the “last” or third dozen. At the bottom of the layout, 3 squares refer to one of the three columns.

OUTSIDE BETTING:

Manque (low): a wager for the bottom half (1-18) of the numbers.
Passe (high): a wager for the top half (19-36) of the numbers.
Impair (odd): wager for odd numbers (1, 3, 5...)
Pair (even): wager for even numbers (2, 4, 6...)
Columns: wager for 1 to 34, 2 to 35, 3 to 36.
Rouge (red) and noir (black): The roulette wheel is divided in red or black compartments
